Description

Elegant antique Edwardian mahogany dressing table or vanity, circa 1900–1915, featuring an impressive three-part arrangement of tall oval beveled mirrors. The central mirror is flanked by two hinged and adjustable side mirrors, allowing them to be positioned at varying angles.

The mahogany case is embellished with fine contrasting string inlay and decorative neoclassical marquetry. The tall shaped back panels are particularly attractive, displaying inlaid urn, swag, bow, tassel, and drapery motifs characteristic of the Classical Revival taste popular during the Edwardian period.

The vanity provides substantial storage with four side drawers, a wide lower drawer, and two small elevated accessory drawers. Graceful square tapered legs terminate in casters. Period-style bail handles and delicately inlaid drawer borders complete the design.

A handsome and highly decorative antique vanity combining useful storage with an unusually dramatic triple-mirror configuration.

Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood surfaces exhibit scattered scratches, small marks, finish wear, minor losses and areas of crazing. Significant age-related silvering deterioration, spotting, clouding and oxidation are present to the original-style mirror plates, particularly toward the lower portions and edges. Drawer interiors show expected wear and discoloration. Hardware and casters exhibit age-related patina. Please review photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
