Description
Description:
Early 20th Century, Large hand-carved Bambara male figure sculpted from a single block of hardwood with a rich, naturally aged dark brown patina. Depicted in a traditional standing pose, the figure holds a pair of carved ritual vessels while wearing a distinctive conical coiffure. The elongated neck, stylized facial features, geometric carving, and simplified anatomy reflect the bold aesthetic commonly associated with West African tribal sculpture. An impressive decorative statement for collectors of ethnographic art, African sculpture, or distinctive interior design.
Dimensions:
10 inches D x 10 inches W x 56.5 inches H
Condition:
Good vintage condition with an attractive aged patina. Numerous age-related shrinkage cracks, scattered insect damage (inactive), abrasions, surface wear, and minor losses throughout, particularly to the arms, legs, coiffure, and base. Structurally stable and suitable for display. Please view all photos for condition.
***We also have a Bambara female figure available.
