A handsome and highly functional antique Davenport desk, crafted in richly figured walnut and accented with striking burl panels throughout. This classic English form, dating to the mid-19th century, features a slant-front writing surface inset with a timeworn leather panel, opening to reveal a fitted interior with small drawers for organizing correspondence and writing implements.

The case is beautifully constructed with a bank of four graduated drawers to one side, each adorned with turned wooden knobs and key escutcheons, while the opposing side retains its paneled form for visual balance. The front showcases a prominent burl walnut panel framed by solid walnut stiles, resting on boldly carved scroll supports terminating in turned feet—an elegant and sculptural foundation typical of quality Davenport desks of the period.

The interior retains its original character, including small compartments and a removable organizer tray, offering both charm and practicality. A period retailer’s label for Reynolds & Wadsworth remains inside, adding a nice touch of historical interest.
