Description
Description:
An impressive French Empire Revival mahogany vitrine cabinet, richly embellished with gilt-bronze mounts, neoclassical ornament, and elegant architectural styling. The central bowed glass display door is flanked by two glazed side display compartments featuring decorative oval beveled glass panels. Classical blue and white Wedgwood-style medallions adorn the lower cabinet doors, while the molded bonnet crest is centered by a painted oval classical reserve framed within a gilt laurel wreath. The interior offers adjustable glass shelving for displaying fine porcelain, silver, crystal, or decorative arts. Below, a dovetailed drawer sits above an open display shelf, adding functionality to this exceptional statement piece. Raised on finely turned and fluted tapered legs.
Condition:
Very good antique condition. Structurally sound with an attractive warm mahogany finish and original gilt decoration. Glass shelves and glazed doors remain intact. The drawer retains quality hand-cut dovetail construction and operates smoothly. Front feet have visible repair to reattach. Minor age-related wear including scattered finish wear, light scratches, small veneer shrinkage crack to one side panel, and expected rubbing to gilt highlights, all consistent with age and normal use. Presents beautifully.
Dimensions:
76.5 inches H x 46 inches W x 19.5 inches D
