An exceptional late Qing Dynasty Chinese carved hardwood plant stand, masterfully executed with intricate openwork and sculptural detail throughout. The square pagoda-form top is crowned with a gently upturned roofline, accented by a beaded edge and finely pierced geometric lattice panels, evoking traditional Chinese architectural forms.
The frieze below is richly adorned with deeply carved scrolling foliage and opposing bird motifs—likely phoenix—symbolizing harmony and prosperity. The elegantly curved supports flow downward with organic movement, terminating in stylized feet, while a shaped lower tier provides both structural integrity and display functionality.
